A wooden train set is an adaptable toy that can start as a small set and be built up over time to become much more substantial system. Wooden train sets also have great play value because of their long-term usage as a child grows. Toys are essential parts of a kid's development. It somehow represents what kind of thing or where his enthusiasm lies. They are also useful as educational toys and are particularly good for developing gross and fine motor skills as well as the ability to communicate. 

Children love to play and a wooden train set is the perfect toy to bring them together. Whilst playing with a train set children can explore new roles, for example, one child might be the driver of the train whilst another can be the station master controlling the flow of trains to and from the platforms. Another child might be in charge of making announcements or be the driver of a different train. There are any number of roles that can be thought up and introduced and is very much let a child's imagination run wild to create them.

There are a number of factors that will make a wooden train set so much more appropriate for toddlers and pre-school children over an electric train set for instance. First they tend to be non-motorized, which means that there is nothing mechanical to break, no electricity and no batteries are required. Secondly the material they are made out of is wood, which is very forgiving, robust and repairable.

 In the United States, the wooden trains were first transformed into toys back in 1930's. So our modern wooden toy trains' ancestors are about 70 years old in age. The models were usually made of Maple tree wood. The wooden train set still captivates young children (and some adults) today. With an increase in the awareness and desire to purchase more ecologically sound toys for children. The wooden train set is probably set to entertain children for another seventy years as they learn and play.

 Well personally, as a little kid, I was a wooden train enthusiast. I still find myself bewildered by the new generation of toy trains I didn't see back when life was still carefree and there were lesser responsibilities.

Toy trains are one of the most intelligent toys that a parent can give to his kids. It is a very good choice for substituting those action figure things and robots.

What is so amazing with these wooden toy trains is that they are based on trains that exist, or once existed on planet earth.
